2009 MTV Video Music Awards

Hello my neglected music junkies,

Sorry, I’ve been too busy. Writing a proper entry takes time and like how it is with money, I never have enough. Being a perfectionist, I can’t accept a sloppy entry either.

So whats up with music this week? The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards is gonna air on Sunday at 9 p.m. EST (Monday 9am SGT). I’ve not been following the VMAs for several years now. The VMAs haven’t been relevant to me since mid 90s. But this year is gonna be different – Janet Jackson will open the show with a Michael Jackson tribute. I have high hopes for her performance to be both epic and moving after watching this heartfelt commercial from YouTube:

The trailer for Michael Jackson documentary, This Is It, will also premiere during the VMA telecast.

Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, P!nk, Green Day, Beyonce, and Lady GaGa are amongst the confirmed performers set to rock the stage at New York City as well.

It will be a very tough fight for the coveted moonman as Beyonce (”Single Ladies”) and Lady GaGa (”Poker Face”) battle for Video of the Year. Both the divas have trumped Britney’s 7 nominations with 9 nominations each.
