Acho que ela me amava tanto quanto eu a amava”, imagina.

Você me ensinou. Você era um ótimo empresário”, teria dito o cantor.

Jay Sean, Rishi Rich & Juggy D

Here in India music is inescapable, Hindi chants projected over loud speakers wake you up in the morning, drivers bump tracks laced in a sitar all day and whistle blowing night guards hold a steady beat throughout the night.

Although there are masses of Indian music stars, one man stand out ahead of the rest.

R&B singer Jay Sean, real name Kamaljit Singh Jhooti, made it mega in the states with his hit song “Down” ft. Lil Wayne, but this Punjabi native is like Michael Jackson over in India. Jay Sean sells out the largest of stadiums, has every other teenager wearing Jay Sean t-shirts, fans ink tatoos of his face on their face and his music monopolizes almost every radio station (with a Jay Sean to other music ratio of 2:1).

Jay Sean

His hit song “Dance With You” has been topping the charts since September 2003 beating out his previous single “I Got My Eyes On You” which was a #1 for four years.

Personality Types... because Astro has better ideas than me

Astro and George recently took personality tests… that’s cool

so I did too and well, apparently I’m like Sidney Poitier and Gandhi and Emily Bronte (INFJ)

I’m introverted, intuitive, feeling and judging- I’m less than one percent of the population:) I feel special

I’m like Astro except where she is a T i’m an F … that means she is more thinking and I am more feeling

astro “the logical” and alice “the weird feely person”… but not Michael Jackson feely…. sorry if I just offended anyone:(

wouldn’t it be funny if MJ’s ghost came back and stalked me… probably not funny actually

I’m going now- thanks for putting up with my ramblings

Michael Jackson ALIVE and we know where he is hidding

As many as 36 devoted friends and family members helped Michael Jackson pull off the greatest celebrity vanishing act in history after he faked his death of a heart attack late last week, hiding him first in the mountains of North Carolina, then in Paris, and, finally, in Hungary – where he is socked away in a medieval castle watching round-the-clock coverage of his “death”, far from the prying eyes of frenzied reporters and overzealous fans. This Week's Top Five: First Five Songs to Come Up On Our Party Shuffles!

Take out your iPods and iPhones and hit shuffle! Here’s the first five songs that we came up on ours this week:

Autumn:

1. Ra diohea_d  RainyDayz Remixes by Amp_Live: ‘15 Stepz’ (ft. Codany Holiday)

Even though Radiohead has said recently that they no longer feel the need to produce album length work, the way they released In Rainbows on the last minutes of my birthday a few years ago was genius: pay what you will, fans, and download it now. They followed the album with In Rainbows 2, a shorter release and a variation on the original theme, and then came the Remixes. I loved that In Rainbows continued to keep coming back at me in differing variations; I never wanted the album to end. ‘15 Stepz’ totally re-envisions the kinetic first song of the album with downbeat tempos and soul vocals.

2. The Charltans: ‘A Man Needs to Be Told’

The chorus of this song is lovely, with its distorted ‘do do do do do do dos’ and sweet lyrics to remind a man there’s a whole lotta world going on.

3. Michael Jackson: ‘The Girl is Mine’

Love this song, love the video, love that Michael and Paul fight over the same woman. It crescendos with Paul’s ‘I don’t believe it!’ and you think MJ might just have this one in the bag.

4. Cat Power: ‘Ramblin’ Woman’

Chan does Hank and it is earth-shaking. That crazy broad’s got the voice to do this song, and the past to make it real.

5. Radiohead: ‘Mk1′

Read my #1.

Wendy:

1. Radiohead: ‘All I Need’

Honestly, I can’t say much about this song.  I still haven’t given In Rainbows a fair listening to.  Dare I say it, but I’m a little Radiohead’d out.

2.  The Beach Boys: ‘Here Today’

I should listen to this song more often.  I am all for a good anti-love song.

3.  PJ Harvey: ‘Rid of Me’

PJ making psycho sound sexy, like she always does.  This was the first PJ Harvey album I ever owned.  It was just what I needed in high school.

4. Tony Galla & The Rising Sons: ‘In Love’

One of the random old soul songs that I have.  I don’t believe one can own enough old soul, so I just keep acquiring more and more.  I love it when one pops up on shuffle.  They always put me in a very distinct frame of mind.

5.  Guns n’ Roses: ‘November Rain’

I laughed out loud and thought “YES!” when this one popped up.  My second thought was about how I’ve never taken this song on during karaoke.

Jen Mae:

1. Daniel Johnston: ‘I’m Nervous’

This song is from one of my favorite Daniel Johnston albums, Welcome to My World. It’s a compilation of what I think are some of his best, older songs, but it also includes a few newer gems. Critics have debated Johnston’s musical prowess, but I think he’s a superb songwriter.  His lyrics possess a vulnerability that I can certainly relate to.  Maybe you can too. He’ll be playing at the Highline Ballroom on October 14th.  I wish I could go.

2. Lambroula Maria Pappas: Donna È Mobile

This was definitely an impulse purchase.  It’s from the World’s Very Best Opera for Kids… in English! I bought it while I was pregnant, thinking that I would play it regularly for my daughter, but I’ve come to find that I cannot stand opera in English. It just sounds awkward to me.

3. Language Addicts: ‘Characteristics (Recognize)’

This is a recording of common Greek expressions used to describe physical characteristics. I’m trying to learn Greek so I can eavesdrop on all of my husband’s relatives. They always look like they’re saying something really juicy. I listen to this album all of the time while I’m working around the house.

4. Elizabeth Mitchell: ‘Three is the Magic Number’

Now here’s a song that I love, love, love! The original Schoolhouse Rock tune has been covered over and over again, but I absolutely adore this version by Elizabeth Mitchell and Daniel Littleton. This is another record that I purchased for my daughter while I was pregnant, but I play this one for her almost every day and she loves to sing along and dance to it. My heart gets really warm when I hear this song because I think of what a beautiful trinity my little family is. If you have children, know someone who does, or just like mellow, lo-fi music, you can listen to and find out more about Elizabeth Mitchell here.

5. Booker T and the MGs: ‘Jellybread’

One of Stax Record’s greats! I can’t listen to Booker T and the MGs and be in a bad mood at the same time.  There are undoubtedly funkier songs on this album, but ‘Jellybread’ still makes me shake my rump.

Jenni:

1. Lucinda Williams: ‘Fruits of My Labor’

Love, love, LOVE her.  Saw her play at Radio City a few years back and was blown away.  She’s an amazing poetess who is uber-country but all attitude.  Makes me want to wear red cowboy boot shit-kickers.  I can’t help but sway and swoon every time I hear this song.

2. Crooked Fingers: ‘Destroyer’

I have a very soft place in my heart for Eric Bachmann.  Like many bands, they remind me of Gainesville because I saw them play at the Covered Dish, circa 2000-ish.  This song is a slow ditty with lots of croons and electric guitar.

3. The Evens: ‘All These Governors’

I love this duet, but of course I’m always a sucker for a guy/girl duet, plus this one has the added bonus of the two singers being sweethearts.  Oh, gush, gush.  The Dischord sound always fondly reminds me of living in D.C.

4. Lifesavas: ‘Shine Language’

This is from the “Gutterfly” Soundtrack.  I honestly didn’t even know I had this in iTunes; I don’t think I’ve ever even listened to it and I haven’t seen “Gutterfly!”  That said, on first listen, it’s not bad hip-hop, I guess I have to put “Gutterfly” in my Netflix queue.

5. Jawbox: ‘Reel’

Reminds me of living in a dormitory my freshman year in college, back when I really didn’t know what music I should like.  At the time, I was being introduced to so many new, great bands who weren’t being played on the ever-so-plentiful classic rock stations of Central Florida.  It all seemed so fresh and interesting.  So, a good feeling tune.

Lisa:

1. LCD Soundsystem: ‘45:33′

Me, my brother, and a group of his friends usually have a Nike+ challenge (the whole iPod pedometer thing) going on. From time to time Kevin also finds/creates running playlists and shares them. This one is a little too dance/trance for my musical tastes, but it did entertain on one 45-minute run to check it out.

2. Aretha Franklin: ‘Respect’

Great live album. I think every track is 10 minutes plus. Each track is its own mini-performance. I like listening to it on weekend mornings, puttering around the house.

3. The Quantic Soul Orchestra: ‘Barbarabatiri’

No idea what this group or track is. About 75% of my iTunes is music sent to me by brother that I download from SendSpace, but then never get around to listening to.

4. Amy Winehouse: ‘I Heard it Through the Grapevine’

From the days of my Amy Winehouse obsession a few years ago. I still really like her voice, but thinking of her makes me a little sad. So much potential!

5. Dana’s Hip Hop: ‘Dana’s Hip Hop 2′

Oh, the days of mixed CDs without track names, but with such inventive names for the CDs (not!). This was from a CD made by one of my college roommates, Dana. On listening, this is Q-Tip’s Vibrant Thing…”Yo, you such a vibrant vibrant vibrant a vibrant thing.” Definitely got some play at college house parties. Now, it might make it into a running mix every once in a while.

"Nasty Witch"... For Madonna...?? Said Michael Jackson.....

Michael Jackson branded Madonna a ‘nasty witch’ after she tried to take him to a strip bar on a date, it has emerged.

In an interview with Jewish scholar Rabbi Shmuley, the music legend also claimed he had the power to heal children, fantasised about his father’s death and admitted keeping mannequins around the house for company.

During the recorded conversation, he named Madonna as one of the people jealous of his success.

‘M is one of them,’ he said. ‘Madonna. She’s not a nice… She hadn’t been kind. She’s a woman and I think that’s what bothers her – women don’t scream for other women and men are too cool to scream for women, and I get that. I get the fainting, the adulation and the notoriety – but she doesn’t get that.’

When asked about their dinner date in 1991 – brought up by Madonna in the emotional tribute she paid to him at the Video Music Awards two weeks ago – Jackson says he was put off by her kinky ways.

He says the Material Girl had a library of books of women ‘who were tied to walls’, and wanted them to go to a strip bar.

‘Madonna laid the law down. She said, “We are going to the restaurant, afterwards we are going to a strip bar.” I said, ‘I am not going to a strip bar, where they cross-dress.” Guys who are girls and girls… “I am not going there. I am not going.”

‘I think afterwards she wrote some mean things about me in the press and I said that she’s a nasty witch.’

Jackson also describes his ‘traumatic’ childhood at the hands of his domineering father Joe.

He said: ‘He was rough. The way he would beat you was, you know, was hard. Sometimes he would make you strip nude first. He would oil you down… So when the flip of the ironing chord hit you it just… and it would just like be dying and you had whips all over your face and back, everywhere.’

The music icon also admitted they would fantasise about Joe being dead. ‘That’s how hateful we were,’ he said.

Jackson said he was starved of love and affection from his father – but mannequins kept him company when he felt too shy to interact with the real world. He claimed his love of children also kept him going.

‘If it weren’t for children I would choose death. I mean it with all my heart. I want to be buried right were there’s children. I would feel safer that way. I want to be next to them, I need their spirit,’ he said.

At the time of the interview, 13-year-old Gavin Arviso was living at Neverland.

A cancer patient, he would accuse Jackson of molesting him three years later. But back then, in 2002, the superstar believed he had the power to heal the young boy.

‘Every time I talk to him he is in a better spirit,’ he said. ‘I know I’m healing him.’

Ironically, Jackson also talked about how children fall in love with him and that gets him into ‘trouble’ with parents.

He said: ‘And I always felt that I don’t want the parents to be jealous, but it happens sometimes and it rubs fathers in a strange way. The kids end up just falling in love with my person. Sometimes it gets me into trouble, but I’m just there to help.’

Earlier today, it also emerged Jackson was terrified of growing old because he thought wrinkles were ugly.

In the same interview, the music legend – often dubbed the Peter Pan of pop – admitted he hated seeing pictures of himself, and implied he would commit suicide to avoid getting old.

‘I think growing old is the ugliest thing. When the body starts breaking down and you start to wrinkle, I think it’s so bad,’ he said.

‘People say that growing old is beautiful. I disagree. I don’t want to look old and start forgetting. I want to always be youthful and have the energy to run around and play hide and seek, which is one of my favourite games.’

The Rabbi – who met Jackson through Uri Geller – recalled a point in their conversation in which the star seemed to be talking about taking his own life.

‘It’s a haunting passage when I say, “You’re not serious that you don’t want to grow old?” Michael paused – and it’s one of the only times he paused during our interviews – and said “You’re asking me an interesting question.

‘”Yes, I want to see my children Prince and Paris grow old” – meaning they were the only things keeping him alive – ‘But I can’t see myself growing old…” Michael suffered from indescribable self-loathing,’ he told the Sun.

Haunted by insults from his father Joe, the singer admitted to an extreme self-loathing.

‘I don’t want my picture to be seen now. When my picture came up on the computer, it made me sick. I am like a lizard. It is horrible. I never like it. I wish I could never be photographed or seen,’ he said.

He also admitted teasing sister Janet – and labelling her a ‘fat cow’ when she had put on weight.

‘I was bad. I would tease her to make her lose weight. I didn’t like it on her. I said, “You have to lose weight cause you look like a fat cow.” I was determined to make my sister look good because I love her and I wanted to make her shine,’ he said.

As for Jackson’s drug use, the Rabbi recalled an incident in 2000m in which the star asked a doctor for medication to help his back pain.

‘When the doctor came out, he looked ashen-faced. He said, “Michael has just asked me for a quantity of drugs that would kill a horse.” I was shocked. I ran into Michael’s room. He was very calm and said, “Shmuley, he’s wrong. I have a very high tolerance. I’m used to this. I’ll be fine.’”‘

Yesterday, it was revealed the star had also hailed the showmanship of Adolf Hitler in the same interview. He even went so far as to describe him as a ‘genius’, and said he wanted to hug the killers of two-year-old Jamie Bulger.

He also told the rabbi he wanted to date Princess Diana and thought Madonna was in love with him but was jealous of his success.

Michael Jackson's 1995 Internet Chat Transcript and Video (79/365)

On August 17th, 1995 Michael met with all his fans around the world on a simulchat including the Internet, Compuserve, America Online, and Prodigy. It was also televised by MTV.

TRANSCRIPT:

Compuserve Question from ORLANDO, FL: [76711,475] Janice Maki Brandon:
I have been a long time fan and I just want to know how, after all the bad press, you can keep going and doing the best job that any rock star can do? Is it the fact you have such a wonderful wife supporting you, or are there other reasons you stay so damn great?

Michael Jackson:
Despite of what the press says about celebrities and myself in general, I move ahead. I don’t pay attention to that tabloid junk – it’s garbage. I have my dreams I am a visionary and I am very resilient. I feel as if I have a suit of armor around me, like a rhinoceros skin. I am here to do what I am supposed to do. Thank you for asking the first question.

Compuserve Question from MANCHESTER, NH: [102331,3335] Brett Mallard:
If you could be any super hero… like Batman, Superman, et al.. whom would you choose to be and why?

Michael Jackson:
I like Batman a lot… If I could choose one, it would be Morph, from the X-Men. He can become anything … He constantly transforms himself. I think he can even teleport, which is interesting and exciting to me. He’s not as popular as the others, but that makes him exciting.

Prodigy Question from Darkan:
Are you ever going to tour America?

Michael Jackson:
I’m not exactly sure, we kind of play it by ear, kind of spontaneous. It would be nice, but I’m not sure.

Internet Question from Brian:
Is your new album doing as well as expected? Go MJ!!

Michael Jackson:
Yes, I am overly excited about how well the album is doing. It is the fastest selling album in my career. Despite what the press is saying. Unprecedented 7 million worldwide sold in the first week!

Prodigy Question from Spin Cycle:
Michael, thanks for coming. What is your favorite song on your newest CD?

Michael Jackson:
Probably Earth Song, Stranger in Moscow, Little Susie. I love songs with heart.

AOL Question from Jocelyn:
When will the 3T album be in the store?

Michael Jackson:
The 3-T are expected around this Christmas. They’re going to be very successful.

Prodigy Question from Bruce Ross:
How has your marriage to Lisa Marie changed your life?

Michael Jackson:
I think I find it more fun to appreciate what family really means. the fact that even though there were 10 of us Jacksons and we were always doing things at different times and I am really learning the real meaning of love. Giving 100% of yourself all the time. Putting up with one another. So far it has been pretty joyous.

Compuserve Question from KANSAS CITY, MO: [102563,674] Jim Shea:
Do you ever wish you could walk into a public place and not be mobbed by your fans?

Michael Jackson:
I have every disguise you can think of… that is why I wish I could be Morph so I could change places and just enjoy life. I would love to do that.

Prodigy Question from Ally W:
Hi Michael. You have an amazing voice. Whose music has helped influence your music most?

Michael Jackson:
Thank you for the compliment. That is very nice. To be honest, my first love and appreciation for music was classical, in kindergarten. I used to listen to Tchaikovsky every day. The great writing of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, and many others. I love the showtunes.

AOL Question from Marlie14:
In your interview with Diane Sawyer, you mentioned moving out of the country. Is this in your future plans?

Michael Jackson:
Yes it is.

Prodigy Question from Rros:
Where is the most favorite place in the world that you have traveled to and where would you most like to travel to?

Michael Jackson:
My most favorite place that I’ve traveled to probably would have to be between South America and Africa. Because I love the people, and I love the culture. The plight of the children is very interesting and I would love to continue to travel…to see more things and to help more people.

Compuserve Question from ENCINITAS, CA: [102002,547] Gary M. Richards:
MICHAEL WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SONG THAT YOU HAVE RECORDED? AND DO YOU STILL HAVE THE PET
MONKEY NAMED BUBBLES, WHO WAS SHOWN IN YOUR GENESIS VIDEO GAME, MOONWALKER?

Michael Jackson:
If I had to pick one song… that’s very difficult. Probably Ben, Got to Be There, Heal The World, one of the oldies. Bubbles is still alive and still my pet chimp. He’s bigger, likes to eat a lot…lots of pizza, ice cream…He loves snacks! [Michael laughs]

Internet Question from MJJ:
You have accomplished so much in life. What else would you like to accomplish in life?

Michael Jackson: I love movies my dream is to make films, not only act and sing but to produce them as well. And I love animation.

Prodigy Question from SiBiS:
In Oprah’s interview, you said that you wanted to raise a family one day..Do you plan to do so??

Michael Jackson:
Yes, that’s my dream for a long time. My own children, I want to adopt them. Not only my own, but children all over the world. I think we should be less territorial about it.

Compuserve Question from LOMBARD, IL: [75152,1114] Kurt A. Lentsch
How did you like working with your sister Janet on the “Scream” Video and also working with your beautiful bride, Lisa Marie. PS Best of luck to you two, don’t listen to all the BS going around!

Michael Jackson:
That is a great question! The press creates all of these negative stories so that people will buy their magazines or read their columns and you must not believe everything you read or see on television. Most of it is false and it is tabloid garbage and I want everyone to be aware of what the tabloid media is like. I have had so much fun working with my sister and working on the set everyday. I haven’t seen her in quite some time and she is busy and I am as well and it is like a reunion. Because of all the family members I am closest to Janet and we became very emotional on the set. We gave each other presents but every day on the set sometimes she would come to me sad because of some crazy story that some tabloid said. I told her that she would have to become resilient because it is there and I want the public to
know. And Yes I had fun with Lisa Marie on the set. She wanted to perform in the video. I had a lot of fun with Lisa Marie on the set. But when the director said “Action,” she became very shy. I was giving her a little bit of a hard time, too!

Prodigy Question from Gemseeker:
When did you learn to Moonwalk? I think it’s so cool.

Michael Jackson:
Thank you sooo much. I’ve always loved illusion dancing, where you can create an illusion with the body. There’s a new step working on called Skywalk. I’ve been working on it.

Prodigy Question from blondie101:
What inspired you to write the song “Beat It”?

Michael Jackson:
Quincy Jones, for the album THRILLER, asked me to write a song with a rock edge to it. I said yes, I can do that. So the very same day, I went to the recording studio, and I literally just started to sing that song. It literally came that fast. Every song is different. The gestation process for BEAT IT was so fast, it was amazing. I thought about what I’d do in that
situation… A confrontation with a gang… I wouldn’t do what these people would do. The way I was raised I would turn the other cheek without creating a war or being a coward either.

Compuserve Question from VANCOUVER, WA: [76730,1036] Brandon:
I come from a large family is it hard for you to see the animosity between your sister LaToya and yourself. you seem to be above all the petty gossip that others love to spread. I just want to give you two thumbs up on your maturity.

Michael Jackson:
Gee – thank you very much! I love you. Thank you.

Prodigy Question from Curveball:
Will there be a next album?

Michael Jackson:
I am not sure. This might be my last album I ever do. I will always create music but am not sure if I’ll create another album.

Prodigy Question from Midway Gal:
How did you get into music?

Michael Jackson:
I don’t think I can answer that without sounding philosophical. We never had music or dance lessons in our house, ever. We were a family that sang all the time. We watched television. We would entertain ourselves… We would take all the furniture out of the living room and dance. I think you’re pretty much born with a gift and you are compelled to create. That is what I have always felt. I remember making up songs when I was really little. I remember when I was little there was rain outside and we would make up songs. Janet and I would have a songwriting game while we washed the dishes…while we were cleaning. I think most kids don’t do that these days. It was our destiny.

AOL Question from EvenBeevu:
Do you come up with the ideas for all of your videos?

Michael Jackson:
A lot of them I do come up with. A lot of the concepts do originate with me. After singing Thriller I knew that I wanted to do a short film. Asimple guy goes out on a date and confesses to her that he’s different. I wanted totransform into different things. It was fun. I had so much fun making that. Beat It is another concept that I came up with. Confrontation -
two gangs – West Side Story. I wanted real gang members. I wanted to see real truisms…in the walk, in the character in the clothes. and I thinkit came across.

Prodigy Question from Pelon:
What has been your proudest musical achievement?

Michael Jackson:
One of them it is really a difficult question to answer because I am not a women but writing a song is like conceiving a child… I love all the songs . We are the World is one of the most favorite things that I’ve done. I am proud of that… it has reached a lot of people, it has touched a lot of people. My Secretary called when I was in the car and said pull over. And
it was like a prayer when all of the radio stations played it. I had tears.

Compuserve Question from MELBOURNE, FL: [74671,465] Firefly
Michael, I was wondering if/when we will see more of the old-style video’s and mini-movies like “Thriller” and “Moonwalker?”

Michael Jackson:
I love that. That’s what I want to get back to doing. Well those types of short films are my favorite because it is not just a video in the sense of videos and images and graphics…it’s a short story. But to do those takes us up to 4, 5, 6, 7 months
sometimes and that has become a problem. We are going back to that. That is my dream.

I’d like to make this announcement: My nephews are in here and want to sit in and listen!
[nephews are entering the room]

Compuserve Question from SEATTLE, WA: [76550,2570] Natalie Ringland:
You seem to be interested in many cultures. Have you ever studied the North? I live in an Inupiat Eskimo village at the top of Alaska. Life is different here. If you ever visit, the land and people here might inspire you. Do you travel for inspiration? — Natalie

Michael Jackson:
Yes I do travel for inspiration and I would love to come to Alaska someday. I have flown over Alaska and I do love to travel. Maybe with your extended invitation I might be able to come!

Prodigy Question from Frogbelly:
In your song “Childhood” you sing about how you’ve never really known the joys of youth. What is the one thing you missed the most?

Michael Jackson:
Probably the simple little things that kids do like having a friend over or going to the park or even trick-or-treat or Christmas or birthday and when we were little we didn’t have any of those things. We had to hear about them. Some of the kids who take them for granted. I haven’t celebrated my birthday yet. Maybe someday I will.

Prodigy Question from Diva:
Michael, I love HIStory and think it’s the best yet. When are you going to release the videos as a complete set?

Michael Jackson:
Thank you for the compliment. I worked very hard. This Christmas I think we are going to have a complete up to date of the shorts on one volume.

AOL Question from Applehead:
It’s one of Apple head’s friends, guess which one…hint Family Matters…what is your favorite song on HIStory? Tell Lisa Marie and Janet I said hi!

Michael Jackson:
I know exactly who that is! [laughter in the room] My favorite song is probably “Childhood” “Earth Song”. But nice to hear from you Brighton, hope I get to see you soon. Tell all my other relatives I said hello.

Prodigy Question from Mr Potter:
Do you ever wish you could play small rooms with intimate audiences instead of mega-productions?

Michael Jackson:
Yes. I think that is the mark of a true performer, to be able to reach any audience around the world, any size. If you can directly relate to a small group, magic starts to happen. I started out playing those kinds of concerts. This Christmas, I’m doing an HBO special (Dec 10), and it is intimate. It’s close-up. It will allow me to do a lot of things I’ve never done before.

Compuserve Question from EXTERNAL NETWORK: [100526,154] Sam Clarke:
Story in UK press this morning claims quickie divorce on the cards? Is it true?

Michael Jackson:
Never believe the tabloid garbage. Don’t waste your time, don’t waste your money. No, it’s not true. If you hear it from my lips, then you can believe it. But no, it’s not true.

Internet Question From MJJ:
What is your process from going from creating a rhythm on your human voice-box to the album version, such as in songs ‘Who Is It’ and ‘Tabloid Junkie’?

Michael Jackson:
The process is creating a vocal rhythm to a click track – which is a sound, a timed beat. And you’re doing these mouth sounds to that beat. These sounds can be looped according to how you sample it in the computer again and again. This is your foundation for the entire track – everything plays off this. It’s the rhythm, like the beatbox rhythm. Every song I’ve
written since I was very little I’ve done that way. I still do it that way.

AOL Question from Smufetty:
I love you and have enjoyed your music since icould hear and see..just one question: how can you keep going when the media makes everything so hard?

Michael Jackson:
Thank you for your compliment, I appreciate it.I believe in my work, like I said, I have great confidence in my dreams. When I have a great idea I have an iron will, Even though the media creates such negative stories they do it just to sell more papers. If you look throughout history, and I’m not trying to put my name with the names of the past it’s been pretty much the same. Ghandi, Christ and I’m not saying I’m Christ, I don’t want to hear the press saying that. Some of the worst attentions had to do with ignorance on the part of the people because of the press. If it happened to them, it can happen to me.

AOL Question from DanielStein:
If you could meet someone dead or alive and talk with them for an hour who would it be and why. P.S. Rock on with your bad self!

Michael Jackson:
It would probably be Michelangelo because I think he is a phenomenal artist and I love art I think I understand what he was trying to say and do even though he got criticized. He was a true artist to the point of true artistry. I would love to just sit down and have a talk.

Prodigy Question from Tristene:
Who is your best friend?

Michael Jackson:
Pretty much the same as I’ve said…the children of the world…for their innocence, their simplicity, and their love. It’s the same kind of innocence that I find in animals. They just want you for your love, and I love that.

Compuserve Question from BOUNDBROOK, NJ: [76235,646] AL & MEG
WHAT WAS IT THAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME INVOLVED IN HELPING AS MANY CHILDREN AS YOU DO? I
THINK WHAT YOU DO FOR CHILDREN IS JUST WONDERFUL. YOU ARE WHAT THESE CHILDREN NEED TO
KEEP THEM GOING WHEN TIMES ARE SO TOUGH.

Michael Jackson:
I truly care about children, and about the future for our children. I’m a little frightened about what the future is going to bring. I truly, truly love them and care about them. I will always help them. When I go on tour, I visit hospitals, terminally ill children. At my ranch at Neverland, we have many terminally ill children as our guests. We do this every few weeks. You do it because you truly love them and you care.

Internet Question From MJJ:
It is rumored (I know you hate that word) that you are doing another book… Do you plan another book, if so, what will it contain?

Michael Jackson:
I wrote a book called DANCING THE DREAM. It was more autobiographical than Moonwalker, which I did with Mrs. Onassis. It wasn’t full of gossip and scandal and all the trash that people write so I don’t think people paid much attention to it, but it came from my heart. It was essays, thoughts, things that I’ve thought about while on tour. I’m not planning to write another book anytime soon. If you want to know how I to feel, you can check out HIStory. It’s a musical book.

Prodigy Question from Gemseeker:
When & How did you learn to moonwalk? I think it’s sooooo cool! :>

Michael Jackson:
Thank you soooo much! I’ve always loved illusion dancing when you can pretty much create a step or an illusion with the body. THere’s a new step that looks like you defy gravity that I’ve been working on for along time. One of my favorite movers is Marcel Marceau. But a lot of the steps that I do come from my heart. A lot of the steps come from the black community. From tap dancing, to the cake walk, to the Charleston. All these dances come from the black community to go all over the world.

Compuserve Question from COMPUSERVE REROUTED: [70004,3543] Jamie Ballengee:
Mr. Jackson, What advice would you give someone who is in a similar position with the bad things from the press? My little sister Andrea Ballengee lost her Miss VA crown.

Michael Jackson:
You don’t pay attention to it. You become strong, you move ahead. The best advice I can give is to believe in yourself, know there’s a tomorrow, walk tall…don’t pay attention to the garbage…it’s complete ignorance.

Internet Question From MsMittens:
Oh… before I forget… someone from the internet who couldn’t access this site asked me to ask you how you are doing and why you are doing the simulchat tonight?

Michael Jackson:
I’m fine, doing all right. [laughs] I’m doing this simulchat because I love my fans, and I want to talk with you! I think this is incredible technology, just amazing, and I think we’re pioneering here! Can I say hello to a couple of my friends? Hello, Lisa Marie…Hello, Paul McCartney…Hello, Mrs. Disney… Hello to my friends in Gary, Indiana…I can’t think of a good joke to say… I want to say I love all of you, all of my fans around the world I love you dearly and don’t listen to all the garbage that you hear.

AOL Question from VanishR29:
How do you feel about technology like the internet and it’s effect on society?

Michael Jackson:
I think it is wonderful. It is a wonderful way to correspond it’s growing and this is the tip of the iceberg. In the next year we will see some amazing growths in technology and I hope that I’m around to see it. I pray that we continue to serve the world in a positive way not a negative way and not hurt anyone because it is wonderful.

Internet Question From MJJ:
How involved are you with the other groups on the MJJ label?

Michael Jackson:
I’m very much involved, not to the point of always being there, but listening to tapes, collaborating on the telephone, picking artists recommending ideas. The new 3T album which I just heard I think is going to be a big success. I do believe that.

I want to say hi to Bill Bellamy in LA – he’s a great guy.
Thank you! Good night everybody. Talk to you soon. Bye!

[Claps in the room. Michael shakes everyone's hand, thanking them, and leaves.]

Here’s a video taken of the beginning of the chat (I’ve searched and can’t find film of the whole chat). I found it interested because I had always wondered if the celebrities who participate in these online chats do actually read the questions or if just sit and have the questions read to them. It looks like a little bit of both.

Although in the beginning it appears as if Michael is typing by himself, I believe he was just *simulating* typing for the photos because you see him get seated with a roomful of people after that with someone else typing his spoken answers.

'This is it' el tema póstumo que publicará Michael Jackson

Mews - 9/24/09

Interesting music news this week…

- This Is It, the documentary of the prep/rehearsals for the late Michael Jackson’s London concert series, will be hitting theaters on October 28.  You can view the trailer here.  A double-disc soundtrack for the film will be released on October 27, and will contain a previously unreleased MJ single also called “This Is It.”  Billboard

- NYC’s Knitting Factory Records is set to release the full 45-album catalog of Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti for the first time ever in North America.  Kuti was the main influence in African political liberation art, and his music has always been difficult to find in the US.  The release also coincides with the Broadway debut of a Jay-Z and Will Smith funded musical about Kuti’s life and art.  Pitchfork

- Kids Company, a London charity for convicted minors and “disadvantaged youth,” just received a donation to the tune of 1.5 million dollars from Coldplay.  The band was apparently very moved by the efforts of the organization and stories of their impact.  The band members have even agreed to give music lessons to the Kids Company children.  Regardless of how you feel about Coldplay’s music, you have to dig the walking and not just talking.  NME

- The word is that Justin Timberlake has been cast in the lead role in a film about Facebook called The Social Network.  Timberlake will play Sean Parker, co-founder of Napster and FB’s first President.  Production for the film begins next month.  Allmusic Blog

- Yesterday was Bruce Springsteen’s 60th birthday.  My dad also turned 60 not too long ago, but Steve Sr. has never had a sliding collision with a Super Bowl Halftime Show stage camera.  Rollingstone

- Rapper Eminem is headed to court against the tech giant Apple Inc in a dispute over download permission on iTunes, despite three separate attempts to broker a settlement between the two parties.  Billboard

News Of Note: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominations for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, LL Cool J, Kiss and more; Black Gold will tour the US With Girl In A Coma; The Boss Turns 60, Coldplay Gives To Charity; Michael Jackson's New Single, Album, And Movi

Rolling Stone reports that the Red Hot Chili Peppers, LL Cool J, Kiss, Genesis, the Stooges and ABBA are among the artists nominated for the 2010 class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. This is the first year in which LL Cool J and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are eligible for induction. Last year’s inductees included Jeff Beck, Metallica and Run-DMC.  (Previous 20 Watts Coverage: Industry News, Week 3)

Brooklyn’s indie duo Black Gold has decided to embark on a US tour supporting Texas-native punk sweethearts, Girl in a Coma, as reported by Filter. The multi-instrumental duo comprised of Eric Ronik (lead vocals, keyboards) and Than Luu (drums, percussion, vocals) will be performing tracks from their debut full length entitled Rush, which was released this past February. You can check out their dance beat-infused tunes on both iTunes and Myspace.

An unreleased Michael Jackson single and album has been announced for release in October, reports NME.COM. The track “This Is It” is the fist posthumous Jackson single to be released and will come out October 12, followed by a compilation album on October 26 and a movie entitled “This Is It” on October 28. In a message on Jackson’s Web site, it was revealed that the compilation album will be a two-disc set featuring past hits, previously unreleased mixes and a spoken-word piece from Jackson called “Planet Earth.” [Previous 20 Watts Coverage: Syracuse Reacts to Michael Jackson’s Death]

Syracuse.com’s Listen Up Blog posted an especially sentimental birthday note to The Boss, who is celebrating his 60th Birthday today. Bruce’s last gigs in ‘Cuse include a two night stand at the Dome in 1992 and a critically acclaimed show at the Landmark Theater in November 1996. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee apparently celebrated his 60th during a concert on September 21 in Des Moines, Iowa. Seriously, Bruce? No rocking the Spectrum (actually, he’ll be there in October) or perhaps MSG (where he’ll be this November) on the big day? I guess you are getting old…

Pitchfork and NME.com report that Coldplay have donated one million pounds ($1,616,809 American dollars) to the charity, Kids Company.  Kids Company aims to provide support for inner-city children. According to NME the band also plans to give music lessons to kids at Kids Company centers.  [Previous 20 Watts Coverage: The 20: An Essential Guide to Britpop]

Ted Leo & the Pharmacists haven’t had much luck with record labels in the past after Lookout! Records folded and Touch and Go stopped releasing new records.  Pitchfork reports that the band has signed to Matador Records.

Too Much Good Stuff - Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Cosmetic surgery addiction or habituation does occur more frequently than one would expect.  At least it appears that way in the media.  Websites are full of individuals who have chosen too much plastic surgery.  Also featured are people that have chosen procedures which have left them with an unnatural physical appearance, either by design or because of a poor result.  I think these situations are related.

The first person who comes to mind is the late Michael Jackson.  Throughout his life he underwent a metamorphosis each year toward a more bizarre facial appearance.  By examining successive photos, it is impossible to figure out precisely what he had done.  Obviously he had multiple nose surgeries.  He has also had a variety of facial skin tightening/whitening procedures along with a myriad of facial implants and injections.  I really think he suffered the full expression of  “body dysmorphic syndrome.”  “Body dysmorphic disorder is a mental illness also known as imagined ugliness. It’s just that – a person sees physical flaws that either too slight or nonexistent for anyone else to notice…” The term imagined ugliness perfectly describes this condition.  Michael Jackson imagined himself ugly and most likely sought out cosmetic surgeries and treatments in an effort to alleviate his mental anguish.  As it has been reported, he also sought some type of escape by abusing numerous prescription drugs.  In a way he traded his probable psychiatric diagnosis (socially unacceptable) for a surgical procedures (socially acceptable).  Arguably the cosmetic surgery procedures provided him with the publicity he craved and attention he needed on a continued and ongoing basis.

It is unfortunate that he surrounded himself with an entourage that did very little in his best interest, except to simply enable his unhealthy choices and line their own pockets.

Tomorrow I will discuss Jocelyn Wildenstein, known as the “Cat Woman” of New York because of her peculiar desire to look like a cat.

favorite songs for the moment

My favorite songs at this moment:

Michael Bolton “Soul Provider”

Michael Jackson “Man in the Mirror”

Soehne Mannheims “Ich wollte wie Orpheus singen” (wersja MtTV unplugged)

Pohlmann “Morgen schon”

Dobie Gray “Drift Away”

Simon & Garfunkel “Flowers never bend with the rainfall”

Jay-Z “Song Cry” (MTV Unplugged version)

Cyndi Lauper “Girls just wanna have fun”

Etta James “All I could do was cry”

Michael Bolton “Lean on me”

Pinnawela “Joy in my belly”

Some of these are my all time favorites. I love how much feeling there is in the voice of Etta James and Michael Bolton. When Michael sings “Lean on me”, he is full of passion, confidence and strength. I love this song.

Some (most) of the songs are classics but some are not. Pinnawela for example created a song full of joy and fun that makes you become more enthusiastic about life. I also like her song called

“Several times”. Pinnawela is polish but she sings in english and the whole album called “Soulahili” is just great.

As I am writing this, I am at the library listening to the tracks I mentioned above. Now a few words about “flowers never bend with the rainfall”. This song has a beautiful harmony of voices, as it is always the case with Simon & Garfunkel. It also has daunting, poetic lyrics: “The mirror on my wall caught some image dark and small, but I’m not sure at all it’s my reflection” or “So I continue to continue to pretend that my life will never end and that flowers never bend with the rainfall.

And “Song cry” – I love the entire Jay-Z unplugged album. It is this album that I started to listen to Jay-Z from. It has some amazing guests and Jay-Z shows his absolute mastery.

The last words will be about “Man in the Mirror”. I don’t know, this song just touches my heart and makes me cry from time to time. There is something universal in it, it is simply beautiful.

Anyway, if you are curious just listen to the songs online. CHeers. Hope you enjoyed the post.

Good Morning, Teacher Ms. Jackson !!!

I knew it was only a matter of time, before Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri split! I mean I have nothing against short guys, because my dad is only 5′5. I know right? This couple just idk didn’t seem like they were going to make it down the aisle. Jermaine was off partying it up with his boys every other day in Las Vegas and no word of Janet around. Then when Michael Jackson died, Jermaine was M.I.A. Geez dood what happened to support?

Ohkay enough ranting…Ms. Jackson was seen at Fashion Week in NYC last week. I’m actually surprised that Janet is wearing this outfit, its cookie cutter and looks like a costume from her Tyler Perry movies. Either a costume or Ms. Jackson is thinking of changing professions and going into teaching…he he he

MJ in the house

so, da. Hugh Laurie nu s-a inventat in House.

jack.

A thriller: Michael Jackson's legacy

Zombies.

All dancing together.

Una coreografía all dancing together.

Una democracia de zombies.

Un thriller.

¿Y ahora?

Michael Jackson's life imitating art, imitating life

King Michael Joseph Jackson of Neverland

I too was one of the millions  who felt a loss when one of our greatest artistic-super-nova-star’s light dimmed a few months back. So how did I deal with this  familiar stranger? I researched non stop on the pop artist’s historical documents Youtube videos, DVD rentals, Interviews… well everything Media!

I started to see a pattern. What revealed itself in Michael’s old songs, movies anything artistic would then manifest itself into his history later on. Well my theory from observation is that any art that  a person creates famous or obscure, is a reflection of the person’s life. It can be in the present time or in their future, very similar to the law of attraction.

Here are my findings which Im not alone in noticing these with fellow MJ-ologists:

Michael Jackson as the scarecrow in "The Wiz"

In The Wiz,  there was a scene in where Diana Ross just rescued the Scarecrow played by Michael, who wanted to me the Wiz and request a  brain… and unfortunately The Los Angeles forensics officers, kept Michael’s brain for a few weeks after his demise. I havent found information confirming  that Michael was interred with or without his brain. No brain! it would be laughable if it werent so sad.

Moving on to  Moonwalker, I saw it a few times in my youth and  two decades later I see it again, and voilà more eerie coincidences…

A Smooth Criminal

In this film, there were three kids whom were Michael’s best buddies, they seemed like homeless and possibly orphaned kids; two boys and one girl. He leaves them after a great rescue. They are sad and miss their best friend MJ.  Katie ,the young girl wishes for Michael to come back and he does and life is great again! See?  just like in  Michael’s life or after his death, he leaves his three kids two boys and a girl. I would think that they so desperately wish for their father to  return… and  sadly, no amount of wishing will make that happen.

There will be no other like Michael, and to those present and future bright stars,  it’s not  expressed to take away their greatness… it’s just that Michael had a spot in this world regardless if you loved him, hated him, or if you lived far away from Television and media, didnt know of him,  He left a HUGE imprint. He has place in History that will be remmbered by those that were here when he roamed and entertained the earth, who got to witness  the graceful movements, the beauty of the songs and emotions all through his masterpieces. His life’s work of art that imitated life, that somehow became art that created a life of its own.  A legacy that should transcend media sensationalism.

Let this be an example of how we have it ALL within ourselves, may it be great, small, and sometimes no so great.  Michael painted his life in a bigger canvas, but it all applies to all of us. We pick what size canvas, what paints and colors we want to use. We make our lives, in essence  we make art. Through the obstacles and especially because of those Hardships we can make greatness from our lives.

With Respect…

When is it Too Much of a Good Thing?

Yesterday we filmed an upcoming segment for the local Fox News Affiliate here in Minneapolis, hosted by Medical Correspondent, Dr. Archelle Georgiou.  I was filmed while performing a lower blephaorplasty (lower eyelid surgery).  As I mentioned in an earlier post, my patient has had plastic surgery procedures in the past.  In routine background information, Dr. Georgiou inquired whether I felt that the patient was perhaps choosing cosmetic surgery too often.  In other words, did I think the patient suffered from a possible cosmetic surgery addiction?  As with all my patients, I am careful to evaluate a patient’s motivations for surgery and access unhealthy desires for seeking cosmetic surgery.  In this case, I feel confident that my patient had legitimate concerns regarding the bags under her eyes and that she was an excellent candidate for eyelid surgery.  She expressed realistic expectations from the surgery and in my opinion, she is certainly not a cosmetic surgery addict.

However, while we are on the topic, let me elaborate. There are several characteristics that are common among cosmetic surgery addicts and for the most part, they are not dissimilar to other addictions.  Patients that have Body Dysmorphic Disorder are likely to seek cosmetic surgery to correct “perceived” physical flaws.  This disorder has psychological components and it is unlikely that any amount of cosmetic surgery will correct feelings of physical deformity that may not exist.  This disorder leads some patients to have excessive cosmetic surgery.  As a physician, I feel that it is my duty to refer patients that exhibit these difficulties to the proper psychological care.

Without a doubt there are patients who do suffer from this problem.  The popular media is quick to point out the cosmetic surgery obsessions of Michael Jackson, New York’s “Cat Woman” and Joan Rivers, to name just a few.  What drives these individuals to their extremes?  What about cosmetic surgery outside the qualified plastic surgeon’s office?

In the next few days, I would like to discuss this problem in greater detail, exploring the many facets of Body Dysmorphic Disorder along the way.

White Guys

Things have been happening at the Saathoff household, and you haven’t been informed!

Let’s go back.  A few weeks ago, Basil made his first out-of-womb visit to US Steel Yard in Gary, IN, to see our cherished Gary Southshore Railcats.  We left while ahead in the 8th inning, but unfortunately the Fargo Redhawks came from behind in the 9th to win the game after we left.  The Railcats finished the season with the best record, but the Redhawks beat them again to win the playoff championship.

Lizzy found a more secluded spot for breastfeeding.  The game was NOT this sparsely attended.

Basil also visited the pediatrician, our dear Dr. Osta.  There, she informed us that our then-10 week old weighed 12lbs 10oz and had achieved something between the 50th and 75th percentile (for weight).  We will do everything to push him to 100th!  Lizzy says, instead, we will do everything we can to keep him average.  I guess a normal baby has an easier time than a super jumbo or a skinny minny.  Average ho!

He also loves getting visits from Claire, who is newly chrismated.

Yesterday I made my first visit to my new doctor at UIC, Dr. Potter.  I am already impressed and pleased to have made the switch from Dr. Grant in Oak Park.  He was very knowledgeable about things from the top of his head without typing things up on his iphone in front of me (as Dr. Grant had done).  As far as the Lupus Anticoagulant, he said he would find someone with more knowledge in the university to help us think about how long I should be on the blood thinner Warfarin.  It appears that my condition is a bit rarer and more confusing to doctors than I knew.  Lizzy’s previous doctor told her one never wants to be “medically interesting” to a doctor, but I think I fit that bill with Dr. Potter.

In another aspect of the visit, I discussed with him some white patches I discovered on my hands during our trip to Washington, D.C.

(this last picture is my elbow)

I’ve been asking people lately if they’ve been wondering – “what else does Eric have in common with Michael Jackson?”

Well, I didn’t have to suggest anything with Dr. Potter.  He was the one who said it looked like vitiligo.  After my flu shot, he did a little biopsy on the white spot on my elbow so they can check the skin for melanin.  I’m turning white!  Oh wait…

It turns out that the affected skin looks about the same color as my shirtless top.  Oh well.  It’s really hard on guys like this.

Here’s another white guy striking some poses:

John Lennon's Dream - A World Free of Mental Boxes and Mental Fences

What divides humankind from one another are mental boxes and mental fences that have possessed and controlled millions (or billions) of minds. Before communication among us can redeem us from this tragedy, we need to develop the technology (and art) of managing mental models, instead of our mental models managing us.

In previous blogs, I have written about:

  • L16- Concepts can block learning
  • L21- On Michael Jackson, or our mental models of people we know
  • Listening where mental models of people conflict
  • Q16- Seeing world problems: building on Gregory Bateson
  • Q7- We found the enemy: our own concepts!?

I love to listen the John Lennon’s (one of the Beatles) song, “Imagine.” His song always moves me to sadness seeing how people “kill and die for” their mental models, and how our concepts lead to “greed or hunger”. At the same time, listening to John Lennon brings my soul to a height my mind cannot verbalize. You can listen to the song via YouTube by clicking HERE.

Here are the lyrics of this beautiful soulful song:

    Imagine there’s no Heaven

    It’s easy if you try

    No hell below us

    Above us only sky

    Imagine all the people

    Living for today

    Imagine there’s no countries

    It isn’t hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

    And no religion too

    Imagine all the people

    Living life in peace

You may say that I’m a dreamer

But I’m not the only one

I hope someday you’ll join us

And the world will be as one

    Imagine no possessions

    I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

    A brotherhood of man

    Imagine all the people

    Sharing all the world

You may say that I’m a dreamer

But I’m not the only one

I hope someday you’ll join us

And the world will live as one

John Lennon asks us to imagine an alternative world reality. He encourages us, saying “it isn’t hard to do.”

Can you imagine the world he is describing in his song? If you can — even for a brief moment as you savor the lyrics, the song and the man’s dream behind the song — then you have momentarily freed yourself from powerful mental models/fences that semi-consciously shape decisions and behaviors of millions of people in Planet Earth.

Captain EO

Rumor has it that Disney will bring back Captain EO for a limited time sometime next spring.  Captain EO was a 3D movie made back in 1986 starring Michael Jackson.  I was actually one of the few lucky one who was there during the show’s opening weekend at Disneyland.  Disneyland was opened all weekend, 72 hours straight.  You received a Captain EO t-shirt for being there friday night.  I wish I would have kept it…wonder what it would fetch in EBay….hahahhahaa.

Snart fotoutstilling, gamle kameraer og MJ this is it!! <3

For ein flott mann!

hehe,

Crazy VMAs

I think that this was officially the craziest VMA show ever.  I never remember it being exciting at all.  Usually they hype it up and everyone gets let down.  Let when they were saying Britney Spears was making a comeback, but it was still too early for her.  I was glad when she did make a comeback though.

This year had the MJ tribute which was supposed to be the highlight of the show but I don’t think it was.  It had Madonna’s speech which was good if a bit redundant. MJ was a king and human.  MJ was like her except without a childhood and didn’t get the chance to made mistakes.  And she did not look like herself for some reason.  I almost didn’t recognize her.  I had to do a double take on Madonna whose image is known the world over.  The music and dancing was good.  I was kind of mad Janet only stayed out for a part of scream but she was good.  I wished everyone had gotten up and done thriller, but that’s just a dream.

And then there was the whole Kanye thing.  Kanye drinking on the red carpet and passing the booze around.  And then taking the mic from Taylor Swift.  I saw him on Jay Leno the other night and I seriously think the man’s got a problem and its not just his ego or inability to keep his opinions to himself.  He needs some help.

Kanye was not the only one to jump on stage uninvited.  Lil’ Mama did too.  Remember seeing her with Jay Z and Alicia Keys?  Not supposed to be there and she seriously pissed off Jay Z.

Pink’s performance was awesome.  I couldn’t believe those acrobatics.  And was she really singing? How the heck.

And Lady Gaga’s so Crazy! I love it.  She went on a date with Kermit the frog (although not too long ago she was wearing a jacket that looked like dead Kermits).  Her outfits were kind of scary too. I was like Beyonce get out of there now. But that could just be that I think masquerade masks are scary and Lady gaga was looking like the Phantom of the Opera behind her.  Her Paparazzi performance was terrifying.  It was like watching a 50s B horror movie with her dying at the end. Although it did look like Carrie too.  Do you think she over did it with the blood at the end and hanging by her arm?  Then there was her red lace outfit which I thought was because she had “died.”  I thought she looked like a dead red queen or king (I was thinking king when I first saw it for some reason) walking around. Her acceptance speech was funny.  She actually handed back the moon man to take off the head veil. And Perez looked like a rooster when he jumped up congratulating her.  Then there was what looked like bird nest outfit with the collar and leash.  And then there are rumours that Lady Gaga wanted to have lions at the VMAs.  Lions? Someone would have been eaten.  That would not have worked well.

Then there was Beyonce, the wonderful Beyonce.  I was so glad that as the winner of best video she gave Taylor the time to give her speech.

And there were more wonderful performers Muse and Green Day.

What do you think about this year’s VMAs? I think everyone was trying to out do everyone else.  At least that made it really interesting.

People Who Died

It’s been a fascinating year for publicly reported deaths. Witness the media saturation of Michael Jackson, who stole Farrah Fawcett’s thunder, who in turn had stolen David Carradine’s, and let’s not forget poor Patrick Swayze who will at least be remembered for being fun to watch in movies rather than a creepy drug-addled beacon of shame. This week we also say goodbye to Jim Carroll, author of the infamous Basketball Diaries.

Hands up if you find the story surrounding the death of David Carradine utterly sordid and fascinating in the

classic, vintage vein of Hollywood’s golden ‘babylon’ era? Adding to this is what appears to be a moratorium on reportage of the circumstances surrounding his death. Here is one of the juicier links which appeared soon after the news hit:

http://www.bittenandbound.com/2009/06/07/david-carradine-death-hanging-photo-published/

If Carradine’s death has served to remind me of anything, it’s to remember never to lend out books to people.

Some years ago, amongst the ephemera of tiki, 50s kitcsh and kustom car culture at Faster Pussycat in Newtown, I spotted a book I’d heard about for ages: The Amok Journal, Sensurround Edition. At the time, I just wanted it for the interview between William Burroughs and Jimmy Page, but elsewhere in the book were shocking and intriguing depictions of depravity gleaned from medical journals and anthropologists, about things like acrotomophilia (people with amputee fetishes) and autoeroticism, and people dying while getting off. Far from TMZ.com - but brave in motive – weirder shit exists and you don’t even know about it.

Which is why I’m shitty about lending that book to a friend, because I never saw it again, and now I have lost the chance to whip it out to prove my aforementioned statement about weird shit. Of course, these themes still manage to seep into the mainstream news channels:

Five children were orphaned by a married couple’s “act of love gone terribly wrong” and a subsequent suicide, a NSW coroner has found.

Julia Gauci, 36, and her husband of 17 years Christopher Gauci, 45, were found dead on June 9, 2008 at their rural property near Gulgong, in central western NSW.

Deputy State Coroner Hugh Dillon was told they had a “phenomenal” marriage, and that Mr Gauci had been “besotted” by his wife.

“She was his princess,” friend Peter Cork told the inquest at Mudgee.

Mr Dillon on Tuesday found Mrs Gauci had died from “manual asphyxia” by misadventure.

He noted her body had been lovingly dressed in her daughter’s white debutante ball dress, with a Virgin Mary statue placed nearby.

Mr Gauci’s body was found in the property’s machinery shed, with the coroner finding he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

“It is one of the saddest stories I have heard and it is particularly sad because the children have been left behind, orphaned – left in this terrible way,” the coroner said.

The Gauci children, now aged between seven and 18 years, are in the care of relatives and were not present at the inquest.

Counsel assisting the coroner, Rebbecca Becroft said, on the day before their deaths the couple had visited friends and appeared “happy” and “normal”.

They had no financial problems, no history of domestic violence nor any substance abuse issues, the inquest was told.

Mr Gauci was the “primary carer” for his wife who suffered epilepsy, Mr Dillon was told.

Forensic pathologist Timothy Lyons said Mrs Gauci’s airways had been blocked and that a “moderate amount of force (had been) applied for that to occur”.

There were no signs she had resisted the asphyxia, he added.

“There appeared … to be two possibilities. First, that Christopher killed Julia deliberately … and that secondly (she died) while they were engaged in marital relations,” Mr Dillon said.

“There is, in my view, a weak case that Christopher deliberately killed Julia, but there is a much stronger case that this was a terrible mishap – something that went terribly wrong in their bedroom, not because of anger … but paradoxically, because of their love for one another.”

He accepted evidence the pair were in a “powerful”, “loving” and “passionate” relationship that had produced five children, and that Mrs Gauci’s death was “an act of love gone terribly wrong”.

The court was told that before his death, Mr Gauci told his eldest daughter: “Mum’s passed away, look after the kids.”

He also reportedly called his wife’s father, John Delaney, to inform him of his daughter’s death.

Such acts were not those of a murderer, Mr Dillon said.

“His remorse was so deep, so profound, he felt that he could not go on living himself,” Mr Dillon said of Mr Gauci.

The couple’s eldest daughter called triple-0 after seeing her father go into the shed, put a rope around his neck, pick up a firearm and climb a ladder, police said.

When police found Mrs Gauci’s body in the main bedroom, she had been dressed in a white debut dress.

“It seems extraordinary for a murderer to dress his own wife in a beautiful dress,” Mr Dillon said.

“It is much more likely that he did that because he loved her and wanted her to look beautiful when found by police or by ambulance officers.”

Outside court, Mr Gauci’s sister-in-law Marian Gauci said the couple’s children are “doing well”.

Other family members present welcomed the finding of misadventure.

It could be your neighbours!

Today's Hodgepodge

*THE 2009 VMAS*

  • Kanye West has always been an attention-getter to make up for his lack in stature, muscles and probably something else.  Ahem.  He always speaks before he thinks, and I remember a time when Justin Timberlake had won an award (a Grammy, or something) and he boasted how he should have won instead because his song was better and blase, blase – it’s all about me, me, me, me, me.  Then yesterday, not only did he diss Taylor Swift but he embarrassed Beyonce as well by dragging her into his mud, and ultimately stole both their winning moments.   But, Beyonce’s classy and gracious invitation to Taylor during her own acceptance speech was so heartwarming.  Way to go, ladies!  Now everyone hates Kanye, including his colleagues.  Ya got what was comin’ to ya and you should learn about Karma.   He just doesn’t need to be invited to award shows anymore.   (And because of this controversy, Jay Leno might get a major boost in his ratings tonight for his new show, which might also boost his ego.  Letterman is the man!)
  • The Michael Jackson Tribute was awesome and seeing Janet dancing next to her brother got me all choked up.
  • Lady GaGa is too much of a character, right down to her outrageous outfits, her stage name and her over-the-top “I’m-bleeding-because-of-the-paparazzi-chasing-me-and-I’m-going-to-die-hanging-here” performance.  I started laughing like hell when she started playing the piano with one leg up on the piano keys – open wide.  But she sells a bunch of records and I don’t think she’ll go away soon.
  • I don’t really care about the New Moon trailer, just like how I didn’t really care about the mediocre, overrated books either.  I only liked the Italy sequence in the New Moon book, but I thought that when they try to adapt it to the screen, it would come off really corny. Bella went all suicidal in the book and she would see flashbacks of Edward and hear his voice in her head.  This would be hard to translate on to the screen without looking pathetic.  And yup, the trailer exudes corniness.  Edward’s not looking so hot anymore, either.

*SERENA WILLIAMS*

  • After her ugly tirade, she finally made a public apology during her press conference after her Doubles win.  Although it was through a smiling face, I doubt how sincere it was.  I bet she’s damn happy that Kanye’s outburst is taking the attention off of her today.

*ROGER FEDERER VS. JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO*

  • *Sniffle*  Roger Federer didn’t win his 6th straight US Open title, but that’s okay because he already has 15 Grand Slam wins.  A determined Del Potro outplayed a flustered Federer today, who made a lot of errors and double faults.  I don’t know what was pressuring Federer; maybe he wanted to win a title for his newborn twins.  He was out of touch today and the better player won.  If he can beat Nadal and Federer, then Del Potro deserves to be the new champion.  A pat on the back for him and Argentinian fans.

*THIS IS IT*

  • The trailer for Michael Jackson’s This Is It movie looks amazing and it got me all choked up again.  It looks like it would have been one of his best concerts ever, if not, the best.  RIP.  See the trailer here or view below.

*PATRICK SWAYZE PASSED AWAY*

  • “Nobody puts Baby in the corner.” Who’s ever going to forget that line by Johnny Castle in the cult classic Dirty Dancing?  Patrick Swayze’s other most memorable role was Sam Wheat in Ghost, which featured the iconic romantic scene of wet clay and sex to the song Unchained Melody.  Rest easy, Patrick. I’d like to mention a few of his other roles that people may have forgotten about.
  • Darrel “Darry” Curtis, Ponyboy’s brother, in The Outsiders
  • Bouncer Dalton in Roadhouse
  • Surfer dude bank-robbing Bodhi in Point Break
  • Sweet and sensible transvestite Vida in To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar (I forgot about that movie!)
  • He was also good in City of Joy.  His character’s name was Max Lowe

VMAs of 2009

Currently what I am watching at the moment. Green day did an awesome performance. Just finished watching beyonce and as always she was amazing. Trying to remember the rest…ohhhhh kanye west’s reaction. I give props to him. He has balls. Massive ones. Seriously! I mean why would you go up there? Do you really need all the attention to be focused on you at the moment? I bet you regret going up there don’t you? Taylor your still awesome…No worries! Be good! Anyways enough about Kanye. Its going to end soon. OHhhh the tribute to Michael was amazing. They got this HUGE SCREEN ON STAGE and I think it might be the biggest in the world. They a couple of his unforgettable videos such as Thriller and the video he did with janet jackson that they played in the end with her performing. Anyways I am not doing any studying at all and I should be. Well after watching the vma’s and writing this blog I will study seriously. OH SHAPS THEY JUST BOOED KANYE! Wow! hahahahahahaha! I think he just lost some fans.  What my sister just said about Jay-z “HE has hair!” hahahahahahahahaha! What the heck? she is so funny.  Russell Brand is not funny. The End! Oh yah MUSE IS PLAYING RIGHT NOW! LOVE THEM! BYE BYE! GOOD NIGHT!

The VMA Live from Radio City Music Hall NYC

The VMA Live from Radio City Music Hall NYC

Tonight is billed to be a very exciting night @ Radio City New York, where many celebrities will gather as a tribute will take place in honor of Michael Jackson.  Many famous and established choreographers were brought in to make this tribute a special one.  And Janet gets to be one of the performers in honor of her brother, whom has put in overtime in rehearsals to make h this as good a performance as possible.

The show starts at 9 pm on the East Coast.  I do not know all of the songs they are going to perform and if I did I would not spill the beans, that would be like watching a movie and telling you the ending before you see it, which I think is wrong, but I will say it is an act as a tribute to Michael Joseph Jackson, that in itself should tell you something.

The VMA is officially on MTV but fans promise to stream it on YouTube.  So for those who for whatever reason do not have MTV or cable services but are Internet Glue-Tube there will be the YouTube options, so if you want to share this memorable moment?

There is word that there is a making of the Michael Jackson Tribute in production.  I think this is a must see.

2009 MTV Video Music Awards

Hello my neglected music junkies,

Sorry, I’ve been too busy. Writing a proper entry takes time and like how it is with money, I never have enough. Being a perfectionist, I can’t accept a sloppy entry either.

So whats up with music this week? The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards is gonna air on Sunday at 9 p.m. EST (Monday 9am SGT). I’ve not been following the VMAs for several years now. The VMAs haven’t been relevant to me since mid 90s. But this year is gonna be different – Janet Jackson will open the show with a Michael Jackson tribute. I have high hopes for her performance to be both epic and moving after watching this heartfelt commercial from YouTube:

The trailer for Michael Jackson documentary, This Is It, will also premiere during the VMA telecast.

Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, P!nk, Green Day, Beyonce, and Lady GaGa are amongst the confirmed performers set to rock the stage at New York City as well.

It will be a very tough fight for the coveted moonman as Beyonce (”Single Ladies”) and Lady GaGa (”Poker Face”) battle for Video of the Year. Both the divas have trumped Britney’s 7 nominations with 9 nominations each.
