It’s my birthday! And it’s a BIG one, too! 30!
I cannot begin to explain how freaked out about aging I was in my early to mid 20’s, but really now I guess I’m at peace with it and don’t see what the big deal is. I’m actually welcoming the newness of this age bracket. “Good riddance” to the total chaos, confusion and angst of my 20’s and “Hello” to starting to live life a bit more serene and fulfilled.
For my birthday, I want to post Michael Jackson and Roberta Flack’s song from 1974’s “Free to Be You and Me” called “When We Grow Up”:
If you want to watch the whole show, click the following Youtube and then click the subsequent ones when it gives you the option after it’s done, but I’m not posting all seventeen of them in this entry
I never saw this when it aired on TV, but I remember watching it as a teen when my mom checked it out from the library for my little sister.
From Wikipedia:
The television special first aired March 11, 1974, on ABC, earning an 18.6 rating/27 share and went on to win an Emmy. 16 mm prints of the special were also struck, and some schoolchildren from the 1970s and 1980s remember seeing the television special projected in schools in that period.
The special appeared occasionally on HBO in the 1980s. It was also seen on the cable channel TV Land, but has not been seen on any network since.
